Effects of Integrated Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) vs. Placebo on Aggression Level in Adults
The purpose of conducting the study was to explore the effects of cognitive behavioral therapy with the integration of Islamic techniques to manage aggression and to examine the impact of placebo medicine on aggression in adults. The study included 40 Participants (n = 20 Integrated CBT group and n = 20 placebo group) with a mean age of 29.70. Participants were placed in the Integrated CBT group if they preferred talking therapy and the Placebo group if they preferred drugs over talking therapy for the treatment of aggression. Aggression was measured at baseline and post-intervention using the Buss & Perry Aggression Questionnaire. Study results suggest a significant difference in pre and post-test measures of aggression. Integrated CBT and Placebo both have significant positive effects in reducing aggression in adults. This study provides evidence that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with integration of the Islamic approach has more positive effects in reducing aggression than Placebo.
